What a breath of fresh air to live with these youngsters born during and just after the 14-18 war, experiencing the pathos and amusement surrounding their early school adventures. Some wonderfully strong and all so different characterisations. The French language teacher who has the wool pulled over her eyes many times, mostly with good humour intended. Then there is Bobby! I enjoyed the book very much. It is well written and I look forward to the next books in the series.
I loved the characters and the descriptions of nature. The fun illustrations add to the pleasure of what is a really enjoyable read. Can't wait for the next in the series!
