Rilla Paterson always enjoyed singing, learned the piano and became an experienced choral singer. She ran choirs at two local junior schools, occasionally writing songs for them, and regularly produces arrangements of popular songs for 16 of her family members to play a total of 23 musical instruments at their family gatherings. She lives in SW Hertfordshire.
The publication of Rilla Paterson's "Three Christmas Camels" series has recently been completed by Troubador. The first title appeared in April 2024, followed by the remaining two in November 2024, just before Christmas.
Rilla is currently endeavouring to interest the UK's Music Advisory Services (now termed "Hubs") in encouraging junior schools to stock a copy of each in their school library. These books all come with professionally recorded music tracks, accessed via a QR code, which stream from her author website. Score snippets appear on every page for the reader to sing along, providing an introduction to sight-reading. This learning resource will provide a good reinforcement to material derived from on-line sources commonly in use in the modern classroom.
She has recently joined the Music Teachers' Association as a Corporate Member, and will take a stall at the Trade Fair featured at their Annual Conference in May 2025.
