JUSTIN NEWLAND writes historical thrillers with a touch of mystery. That's history with a supernatural bent.
His first novel, The Genes of Isis (Matador) is an epic fantasy set in Ancient Egypt that speculates on the genesis of the human race.
His second novel, The Old Dragon's Head (Matador), is a historical fantasy set in Old China.
His third is a historical novel set in East Prussia during the Enlightenment in the 1760's and is entitled The Coronation (Matador).
The Abdication (Matador) is a supernatural thriller about a young woman who confronts her own belief in a higher purpose.
His next two novels feature the history of the island of Angels, England. The first in a two-book series is The Mark of the Salamander (Book Guild, 2023), and the second is The Midnight of Eights (Book Guild, October, 2024).
His novels explore war, religion and evolution and speculate on the human's place in the universe.

2019 And All That
Justin concluded his World Tour of Somerset and the West Country with a book signing at Weston-super-MareWH Smith last Saturday (14th December). That marked his 14th book signing this year, taking in various Waterstones stores, two WH Smith branches, and a host of South West indie bookshops, including the Snug in Bridgwater, Hunting Raven in Frome, and Chard Bookshop in Chard. In 2019, Justin gave 26 author talks in South West libraries and local associations.
These have taken him into the wilds of Wiveliscombe and Worle, amongst others. A place on the 2019 Honours Board is reserved for the librarians of Bridwgater, Frome, Minehead, Wells and Yeovil, who were brave enough to have him back twice this year. He also given 22 radio interviews and been invited to studios in Taunton, Bristol, Yeovil, Bridgwater and Frome. It's possible he now knows how to speak into a radio mic!
This PR is not just a tally of all the places he has=s been fortunate enough to visit this year, but also a chance to say a huge thank you to all the bookshop managers and owners, the library staff and the U3A organisers, who have backed him through the year. Not forgetting all the people who came along to his talks and who bought his books. A special thanks is reserved for the good folks at Troubador Publishing for putting up with me for another year!
