I was born in north Wales and after graduating from Manchester University my life has been spent teaching in seconday schools in the south Manchester area apart from a five year period when I taught in Kenya an experience that has influenced some of my work. I have had two novels (YESTERDAY, TODAY and TOMORROW set in Kenya and SHARING set in UK) published by Matador. I have a third novel (FAILING MEMORY set in the UK) at the start of the publishing process with Matador. I have written several short stories, one of which got to the short list (6 out of 600 entries) in the 2023 King Lear Short Story Competition. Another was highly commended in the same competition; another was commended (top 7%) in the 2023 Bridport Short Story Prize. I have written a score of poems; none has yet been submitted for publication. An embrionic play lies on file waiting for inspiration.
