Important Notice: Impersonation Alert
Written by:

Updated June 2026
Unfortunately, we currently have three active impersonation issues ongoing.
Impersonations of Individual Members of Staff
Unfortunately, AI scams have also taken to impersonating members of the Troubador team.
Taking details from our website, AI scammers have created fake email addresses to target authors, but used our staff profile photos, titles, and our websites and social media, in order to convey authenticity and build trust.
In light of this, we want to issue a few reminders to all writers:
- Our email addresses end with @troubador.co.uk. Anything from @gmail or any other email provider is not from us.
- We do not initiate contact with authors to offer publishing deals. We will reach out to you if you have submitted a manuscript, of course, and you will receive marketing emails if you sign up to our newsletter, however, we do not send out cold emails with assessments of your unsubmitted title and offer publication.
"Matador Publisher"
It has come to our attention that a company operating under the name "Matador Publishers" has been falsely claiming affiliation with Troubador Publishing (and more specifically, our now-retired Matador Publishing imprint, a UK-registered company owned by the Troubador Publishing group) to target self-publishing authors, particularly in US and overseas markets. Over the past several weeks, we’ve encountered multiple instances where this entity has offered publishing contracts while purporting to be a subsidiary of Troubador Publishing.
We've become aware that they are providing authors with a letter claiming to be affiliated with us and that an author signing up with them can benefit from our distribution networks by signing a contract with them. This is categorically false.
Although this company shares a similar name to our former imprint, I want to make clear that they have no affiliation with us. The fact that they are actively misleading authors by falsely claiming to represent us is a serious issue and one that we have raised directly with the company. We have also alerted our industry partners at the Alliance of Independent Authors among others.
If you are approached by this company or hear any claims linking us to them, please be advised that we have no affiliation with them whatsoever. Any authors with concerns or questions should reach out to us directly at books@troubador.co.uk or by calling 0116 2792299 for further clarification.
"Troubador Publishing Company"
We've recently become aware of an unauthorised Facebook page falsely claiming affiliation with us. This page promotes translation and employment opportunities under our name.
This is not associated with us in any way. The page was created on the 1st of March 2025 to clearly try and use our platform to encourage engagement in a fraudulent way.
The fraudulent page can be found here: Fake Facebook Page.
For reference, our official Facebook page is here: Troubador Publishing.

Thank you for your continued support and vigilance.
Yours sincerely,
Alex Thompson
