A Raven Rising

The year is 1307. A stranger arrives at a remote cottage in the Galloway hills. The cottage belongs to the ‘Widow of Craigencallie’ and her three sons. The stranger sets the three brothers a challenge which will change their lives for ever. Scorned by his older brothers, Thomas Murdoch, a young shepherd, rises to the challenge, heartened by his dream to serve King Robert Bruce

He tastes victory at the battle of Glentrool, but his elation is tempered by the news his brother William is to marry Anne , Thomas’s secret love. He leaves for Whithorn priory where his training is disturbed by the arrival of his other brother, Ian, with grim news of William. The two begin a journey which leads to the Battle of Bannockburn, with mixed results for the brothers. Which of the brothers will fortune favour the most ? Or will Anne, the source of their love and jealously , surpass them all in Bruce’s affection?
