Geoffrey Arnold
Charming, inventive, humorous and with a good, realistic plot. Because of the complexity, a long denouement is necessary, and is very well handled. As the tile indicates, the two Ladies running the Agency are in business as a Milliner and a Baker. Under the cover of those ventures, they are assisted by a group of other ladies having great fun detectiving in the delightful way Old Ladies can – and do. Set in the fictional village of Little Ormby in Norfolk, close to the coast road, readers familiar with the area will be able to speculate whereabouts it and the Crispin Crisps factory are sited. I deliberately chose this book as being well away from my normal reading material and am looking forward to a sequel – Armadillo?
