Crime and Thrillers
The story of Owen Morgan who must meet the conditions of his benefactor before entering a world of secrets, one of which will compromise the machinations of a powerful entrepreneur working within the United Nations.
On an unusually hot summer’s day in the mid-eighties, three pubescent teenagers witness a violent crime, the memories of which follow them into adulthood, their lives intertwined at key moments. Owen’s odyssey stretches from the embattled picket lines of a South Yorkshire mining village to the streets of West Belfast and onto Paris before a university acquaintance, the son of a powerful man, entices him deeper into a world of secrecy in Sub-Saharan Africa. A childhood friend and investigative journalist resurfaces in Bamako to set the conditions for Owen’s atonement in the ancient desert sands of the Sahel. All he must do is look inside an aging leather satchel, one that lies in a dusty room at the tip of a sand lake.
A story of love, loyalty and betrayal, one set against a contemporary historical backdrop, revealing the rawness of human frailty and the lasting impact of traumatic events.
