Sarah Hegarty’s work has twice won the Yeovil Literary Prize, and been shortlisted for the Bridport, Exeter and Manchester fiction prizes. Her short fiction has been published in Mslexia, the Mechanics' Institute Review, Cinnamon Press and various anthologies. After graduating in Modern Chinese Studies from Leeds University she worked as a journalist. She has an MA in Creative Writing and lives in Surrey, where she teaches creative writing. Magpie and Other Stories was shortlisted for the 2025 Rubery International Book Award and last year Sarah was a judge for the 2025 Yeovil Literary Prize.
