Priya Hunt was born in New Delhi, India and studied Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance from in Ganesa Natyalaya, under the tutelage of the famed Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan. Although she stopped dancing professionally several years ago, she has stayed closely in touch with this dance form and her alma mater. In this book, she explores her love for dance alongside her love for Indian mythology that she grew up reading.
She has written other books including a south Indian cookbook (Indian Festive Flavours) and older editions of this current book in two different parts (The Magic Sapphire and the Seven Magical Steps to Heaven)
