In line with the findings of ongoing #research - Wizzy's Words will be supported by #free web based materials in the spring of 2023 - #parents, #child care providers and #teachers will be able to access these resources at www.wizzyswords.co.uk (The new resources form the basis for a companion book to Wizzy's Words. However, in the current financial climate, for now, by making them freely available on line it is hoped that they will be accessible to more people who can support more infants)
The resources will comprise of a selection of rhymes taken from Wizzy's Words. These rhymes will be matched carefully with movements taken from the developmental milestones from birth to 5. Appropriate rhymes and movement for baby, toddler and preschooler will be presented. The movements should be seen as a guide for promoting #nurture #bonding #development and #rhythm perception - all areas associated with the domains of child development. Development is not fixed, there will be lots of crossover between stages. For some children more support may be necessary. Fun, active, interactions and language play is the key. Every child needs to develop at their own pace.

BREAKING NEWS...
Following, the original literature review and development and publication of Wizzy's Words, book of rhymes for today, with the words for today ... AN EXCERPT FROM A FOLLOW UP LITERATURE REVIEW
'The presentation of nursery rhymes is seen to be implicit in early years practitioner's planning and nursery rhyme books continue to be present in many homes. However, it appears that their value needs to be made explicit to more parents, child care provider and early years education practitioners.'
ON COMPLETION OF THE REVIEW A NEW BOOK IS PROPOSED...
This will marry together findings with respect to several research areas. These highlight the need to focus more strongly on harnessing #rhyme #rhythm and #action
The book's working title 'Move to Learn', will add graded actions to a selection of rhymes from Wizzy's Words - to focus on twinning mind and body for learning from birth. For babies, toddlers, preschoolers and EYFS children.

FULL DESCRIPTION OF WIZZY'S WORDS AND ITS USE
Wizzy's Words is a book of modern nursery rhymes, providing a well-researched resource for parents, carers, family and educational practitioners, to share with children from birth. We all love the nursery rhymes we grew up with, learning to recite them continues to be fun. However, traditional nursery rhymes contain the vocabulary from their times. Nearly 25% of children continue to miss age-appropriate targets, for oral vocabulary, by the end of their reception year (DfEd data). Although many of the rhymes follow traditional tunes, Wizzy's Words rhymes contain the oral vocabulary, associated with educational and life-long success in our times. As children need to hear words before they can say, read and write words, Wizzy's Words will be available in paperback, ebook and audiobook formats. The variety of formats and the range of children's school entry needs, means that Wizzy's Words can be adapted from 1-1, to small group and whole class sharing/teaching in the pre-school and school setting. Primarily, however, sharing the rhymes vocally and aurally, before pre-school and school entry and in the same 1-1 fashion that traditional rhymes have been shared, will underpin successful early oral vocabulary development.
