Over the years I've worked as a knitwear designer and a filmmaker and co-founded a film festival. These days I'm mostly researching and writing. I have three children and five grandchildren and live in Edinburgh. Based on the life of my ancestor, The Real Mackay is my debut novel.

Author news

My book is being launched on June 18th 2024 at Golden Hare Books, Edinburgh. I will be interviewed by writer Susan Elsley and there will also be a folk singer, Jamie Cook, singing some of The Real Mackay's auld songs! I'm also speaking and signing books at the Kingussie Festival of Words on June 21st and at an event at Strathnaver Museum, in the far north of Scotland (Mackay country!) on June 26th.
