Christine M Thomas is a health economist who has spent 30 years assessing whether new medicines and healthcare interventions are worth the money they cost. She has published research on the cost of illness, including obesity-related depression.
Christine is also a lifelong dieter. She knows the shame of stepping on the scales, the euphoria of reaching her goal weight, and the disappointment of regaining it. Realising that her own body dissatisfaction was shaping her children’s relationship with food, she set out to break the cycle for the next generation.
The Elephant in the Room is her first book: a fusion of practical evidence, lived experience and the candour to say what everyone knows but no-one says.
