Trade Marketing Controller

Troubador Publishing is seeking a highly motivated Trade Marketing Controller to join the growing marketing team. The trade marketing controller will be responsible for a wide range of book marketing tasks within a busy and exciting marketing department. 

This person will be working with authors, colleagues and the trade to give our books the best possible chance of selling to the market. They will be looking to generate trade interest for a range of published books across both the Troubador and The Book Guild brands and promote them to a wide selection of trade accounts and retailers.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • To use the company’s marketing processes to market Troubador and Book Guild titles across the trade and retail partners.
  • Working closely with authors and handling book trade marketing for them.
  • Writing book blurbs and trade information sheets.
  • Managing the metadata for books via a dedicated metadata system.
  • Updating book content on our Amazon Advantage and Google accounts to give our books the best chance of selling, as well as sales reporting.
  • Uploading book files to the Amazon Search Inside program to increase discoverability.
  • To support the Sales and Marketing Manager and the rest of the marketing team as needed, particularly in regard to working with marketing administration.
  • Coordination of our quarterly ‘Highlights’ magazine showcasing our best titles.
  • Learning how to make books visible to retailers to allow them to buy copies to stock on bookshelves, with a view to taking responsibility for this in future.
  • To work as an integral part of a close-knit team to help shape new services. 

Requirements

Key requirements for this role are:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong writing skills (good grammar)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confident technically. Experience with databases, spreadsheets, graphics packages
  • Ability to multitask, managing multiple projects simultaneously

Ideally, but not essentially, the right person for this role would have a passion for literature and a strong understanding of the book publishing industry.

Salary: £24,000
