When N S Giri joined his young family on a holiday to Agadir in 2014, little did he know that this would be the start of an enduring love affair with Morocco. Within days, he was planning multiple return trips.

Covid-19 interrupted proceedings, but this passionate world traveller and UK-based psychiatrist of Indian descent would go on to explore the length and breadth of this mesmerising North African country – trekking through the dunes of the Sahara Desert; summiting Mount Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak; getting lost in the ancient medinas of Fez, Marrakesh and Meknes; and making a pilgrimage to the Tangier tomb of his travel hero, celebrated medieval adventurer Ibn Battuta.
