An accompanying volume to the author’s earlier Travels of a Mind Explorer: Morocco, and the second in his series of world travels. Travels which have taken the author to over 125 countries, for the most part travelling solo.

N.S. Giri’s passion for learning about the Maya and Inca civilisations, and his dream of travelling the length of the Pan-American Highway, inspired him to undertake two extended trips to Central and South America. As in his previous Travels of a Mind Explorer, he was determined to use public transport where he could, his enthusiasm for ancient cultures matched only by his deep interest in meeting local people going about their daily lives.

In Travels of a Mind Explorer: Central and South America, you are invited to clamber aboard all manner of noisy, multicoloured ‘chicken’ buses with Dr Giri as he roams through Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, and Colombia. Along the way, he tracks giant tortoises in the Galápagos, watches a ship navigate the Panama Canal, fends off feral dogs in Antigua, explores a former no-go neighbourhood in Bogotá, samples ever-spicier street food, and strikes up insightful conversations with fishers, farmers, medical doctors, and a shaman.
