Iowa Nice

Michael Vennard is a life-long cyclist but had never heard of RAGBRAI – an organised ride in the USA that has been run annually since the 1970s. 

This multi-day ride across the state of Iowa sees around 30,000 people participate in it every year. In the 21st century, you would have thought it would be easy to get there and take part. 

But things didn’t quite go to plan… 

This is the story of how Michael completed the ride, with the help and generosity of the strangers he met along the way. In more ways than one, Michael truly experienced what Iowans like to call ‘Iowa Nice’.
