Memo for my Mother is a collection that rejoices at the beauty of nature, showcasing the simplicity and song-like grace of the human experience: love, friendship, spirituality, injustice, hope, everyday lives. Poignant emotional weight is given to the smallest details, illuminating moments through achingly acute observation. Swallows soaring into our mind's eye, meditative moments quietly opening up spaces that take us to a calm centre of self-reflection.
This collection scrutinises our part in how we live and our responsibility to the world and each other. How much kindness matters.
Dana Stumbles’ mother’s music followed her all her life, and an aural beauty lingers, lilting her memory in an easy free fall. And standing next to her, her protector and stalwart supporter, Dana’s father (died March 2010) who never let her down.
All the best of life is waiting here in this simple, luminous work. Unfurling under those expansive branches of remembered trees reaching across dusty roads. Nothing like it. Nothing like the biggest blue sky. Nothing like home and your mother’s music floating in and out of every day.
