The Darkstone makes Meltith, the Red Witch of Ynis Mawr, the most powerful of mages, but there is a terrible fallout from its use. A Blight spreads across mainland Briton, killing adults but leaving children to struggle to survive.
Bryan, leading a group of orphaned children, encounters Aina, whose little boat can take them to temporary safety, but being involved with her is dangerous. She is on a mission to save their world from the Darkstone’s power, but the Red Witch will do anything to stop her, for that would destroy Meltith’s power too.
Pursued by Meltith’s agents and sinister metal creatures shaped like beetles, their quest leads Aina, Bryan and Jimmy Chan to another world to find twin children with the power to destroy the Darkstone. Yet even there they cannot escape pursuit, and they discover a terrible secret about Meltith’s beetle-creatures.
After many dangers, Bryan and his friends must still penetrate Ynis Mawr and face the Red Witch herself if they are to destroy the Darkstone.
They must risk everything to try to save their world.
Can they succeed?
