Dublin, March 1942 – Spy Capital of Europe
Veteran spycatcher Fergus Finnan uncovers a plot to bring a German arms shipment to fiercely neutral Éire.
Nationalists want the weapons to defend the fledgling state. But Finnan knows the discovery of the cargo by the Allies would trigger an Anglo-American invasion from the north.
Across the Channel, the Germans have their own plans to annex Éire. They will stop at nothing to prevent the island falling into Allied hands and even a whiff of suspicion will precipitate their invasion from the south.
Finnan encounters Julia Winter – an Abwehr “V” agent whose high-risk mission is critical to the future of Ireland … and the outcome of the war. Finnan’s problems mount when his estranged daughter arrives to spy for America’s Office of Strategic Services – forerunner of the CIA.
Then a U-boat skipper escapes from an Irish prison camp so he can return to Germany and prevent his daughter being taken into care by the Nazi state.
Trapped in a maze of murderous intrigue, Finnan must decide who he can really trust in a desperate bid to stop the destruction of his country.
