One and Done is simply the book I wish we had had on becoming parents to our one and only child. With the prevalence of single child families increasing, the content provides timely insight for a potentially growing audience.
One and Done has two key strands that draw from both professional experience as an educator and personal experience as a co-parent. The first strand provides an accessible and thought-provoking analysis of the lingering fascination associated with only child status. The second strand suggests a recipe, including top tips, to support the nurture of happy and rounded singles.
There is no attempt to either encourage or discourage the one child family option. The aim is just to reassure that the reality need not be anywhere near as negative as some may lead you to believe, offering considerable advantages (for all family members) as well as some relative disadvantages to be managed and borne in mind.
If you are a parent or potential parent of one, through choice or circumstance, One and Done could become the voice of reason, a reassuring friend to visit and revisit.
