Crime and Thrillers
Having just lost everything at a stroke, Quentin Grayling’s life has fallen apart. Snapping, he sets off on a mad, unplanned adventure, from England to New York, and finds himself in serious danger… for reasons unclear.
Quentin was brought up as an orphan in a dysfunctional and hostile environment, but for the two people who made his life worthwhile.
In New York, Quentin encounters the kindness of strangers, and a traumatised woman trying to escape her own hell. Together they flee, but Quentin finds himself still under threat.
Whilst fleeing from the invisible enemy, the mystery starts unravelling - culminating in a violent denouement and a descent into darkness.
Here's what readers have to say about this book....
Are you one of those readers who cherish transcontinental mysteries and thrillers? Then Vinquita Romaine's Evil at the Core is the perfect choice for you. The story follows the life of Quentin Grayling and the unexpected adventure he sets himself on. He was raised as an orphan, initially at a lavish estate in Scotland, and then at a boarding school. His family was dysfunctional, and the environment was hostile which affects his choices in life for a very long time. Though some stability came after he landed a job and got married, that too fell apart soon. Now with everything lost, Quentin snapped and hopped on a flight from London to New York to look for some tranquility and time to think about his future. However, little did he know that the new city is waiting for him with its own set of troubles and threats (on life).
Thoroughly enjoyed. Gentle twists and turns and the development of characters was brilliant. Importance of truth and affection and love as against greed and avarice. A must read!
