Crime and Thrillers
Kay’s mother never loved her. This was a strange ambience for a growing child and one she’d puzzled over during her childhood and later in her early adult life. As a lonely little girl, she created an imaginary friend, who returns as an adult, making Kay question her sense of reality.

Here's what readers have to say about this book....
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters all came to life and I just wanted to know what happens next.
As I read this novel, I felt so completely drawn in to Kay’s journey through four decades of experience as her personal and social discovery created the choices she made. This novel worked for me on so many different levels - particularly visually in the different settings of London, Australia and Wales, together with the emotional landscape of Kay’s inner thoughts and actions. The story thread kept me intrigued throughout as to whether or not Kay would find the answers to the gaps in her relationship with her mother …and the ending did not disappoint. The epilogue was just perfect
I would recommend this book without any hesitation. A truly complicated family story which highlights the devastating effect early trauma can have on a child but how, with perseverance, the almost impossible can happen. This takes place across England, Wales, Melbourne and back again. The mystery woven through the book is captivating, it gripped me to the very last page.
Loved this book. Intriguing read with an unpredictable ending. A journey over decades as the story unfolds; taking you from war torn London, over to Australia and then ending up in Wales in the 1990s - following the life of Kay and her family. A real page turner.
From the outset we learn that Kay's mother despises her, and throughout the novel, amid all its subplots and neatly woven tapestry of contemporary life in three main settings, the East end of London, Melbourne, Australia and the Welsh countryside, the reason for this is gradually revealed. This is a charming book, written with great sensitivity and humanity. It is a compelling read, and a thriller in the true sense of the word. Excellent.
