The Lodge

When buying a commercial game lodge in Botswana, it’s probably advisable to visit the lodge in person before committing oneself to its purchase.

Having arrived at the now-acquired lodge to start a new life with his wife Dorothy, it took very little time for Richard to admit to this assertion. After all, the sales prospectus for the lodge and its associated business had, he now realised, been silent on two crucial issues.

First was the series of novel occupations being pursued by the lodge’s staff, and second was the reason they’d been obliged to pursue these jobs in the first place.

When he finally discovers the reason, it is beyond anything he could have imagined and severely challenging to the use of the term ‘game lodge’ in the description of what he’d acquired.

Dorothy is not impressed, and Richard can hardly blame her…
