Autobiography
In mid-fifties England Tony Dawes has plans for his life. God, the creator of the universe, has other plans. This is the story of the battle between God and Tony but who will overcome?
Tony Dawes is born to blue collar parents. As he grows, he is taken to church but finds no meaning in it, or God. He becomes an alcoholic and a porn addict and attempts suicide. God intervenes. Conned into going to an evangelistic event, he commits his life to Jesus.
He meets his future wife, Autumn, who becomes a Christian. Both receive visions from God, get baptised and then married. They have two daughters from Autumn’s first marriage; their first child together miscarries before they have a son. They stop going to church and drift away from God. The marriage deteriorates, as does Tony’s behaviour. He cries out to God, who accepts him and tells him to leave his marriage. Tony argues for 16 months before leaving.
Tony grows as a person and a Christian, completes his first half-marathon, aged 65 and is diagnosed with prostate cancer. He helps at a Christian youth camp for a week then has a minor stroke. Tony retires and begins writing.
