Yvonne Dykes, London-Based Author
Yvonne was brought up in Notting Hill and Paddington. One of nine children, she is proud of her Irish Immigrant roots. It's a background which has provided her with a rich seam of stories, some of which she uses to great effect in her writing.
After a part time degree course with the Open University and a post-graduate certificate in education, Yvonne became a primary school teacher. Whilst studying for her MA in the same field, her tutor invited her to join a writers' course at City Lit. Here she honed her craft under the tutelage of author Johnathan Barnes.
Around the time she gave up full-time teaching to pursue her writing career, Yvonne had a handful of short stories accepted by Fairlight Books (Fairlightbooks.co.uk) and this gave her the courage to continue working on her novels.
Yvonne has two grown up sons and still lives in London with husband Chris and a couple of moody feral cats that have taken up residence in their garden.
