Nicholas Gasson is a semi-retired company director. As an actor he toured the UK and Ireland extensively through the 2000s. There were also TV appearances in soaps, dramas and commercials. His frequent spells away from home while he worked on various shows meant stints of boredom each afternoon, while waiting for the evening performances. It was during these times that he started randomly jotting down memories from his life before starting his acting career. Once back home he would structure these fragments into a narrative and then check the accuracy of his recollections.
Nothing much happened to this manuscript for some years, until when on holiday in Australia in 2025, he was stuck in a hotel room for five days while Sydney was plagued by storms. Again bored, he realised that the manuscript was still on his laptop. He went through it and realised that if it was updated and revised, it was publishable. These revisions continued after his return to the UK. It was finally ready to send to a publisher in July 2025.
His company is Role-Players NGA Ltd, which employs actors to work on training programmes for corporate clients. He set the business up in 2003 using actor friends he has worked with, or were represented by the same agency.
Before becoming a professional actor he was involved in corporate training, running programmes in the area of communication: Presentation Skills, Meetings Skills, Business Writing and others. This work was the link between being an actor and setting up the role-play company.
These days he splits his time between his homes in the UK and Spain.
