I JUST WANT TO WRITE BOOKS THAT PEOPLE LOVE READING
When I retired in 2019, I had three objectives. To write a novel I could be proud of, to fly fish my way around the world and to play my electric guitar better than I do. Three months later, the world was in lockdown, mine included. My guitar teacher returned to Poland and fishing trips were cancelled. There was only one thing left so in May 2020, I sat down to write the novel that was to become Maybe It's About Time. It was published in August 2022 (by Troubador) and has gone on to sell well and receive amazing feedback and reviews. I'm very proud of it.
I decided early on that I wasn't going down the traditional agent/publisher route. I didn't want to waste my time filling in agent's online forms, submitting example chapters and then sitting around waiting. I don't want to be famous and I don't need the money. Time is more important to me than money. So, I decided to self-publish, get the book out there and see what happened. It's been a great success and I have given every penny I have earned in royalties to charity.
The success of Maybe It's About Time created a demand from readers for a sequel which I was delighted to fulfill. My second novel, Second Time Around, will be coming out in October 2026, published again by Troubador. All the characters have come on a lot and the plot is engaging, heartwarming and funny. I hope everyone enjoys it as much!
