I am a qualified Primary School Teacher, with experience of working in primary schools in the UK as well as abroad. I have always loved animals and nature and therefore have always been passionate about saving them; I was able to combine this passion with my teaching experience by working as an Environmental Education Facilitator at a forestry centre for seven years.
I would also say that I have always been a creative person too, my first creative outlet being music, which I specialised in when I was teaching in primary schools. By writing Baxter: The Rabbit Who Cared, I am bringing these qualities together, to produce a book that educates while it entertains, with the aim of helping to save the planet.
My inspiration for Baxter: The Rabbit Who Cared came to me when a friend of mine at the time told me that her two naughty rabbits (but not her well-behaved one), had managed to escape from their pen and that she'd found them later by following their trail of droppings. This sparked my imagination, triggered a ten-day phase of heightened creativity, during which time the concept of the book, with its main themes, characters and storyline, were born.
