Heather Walker

Heather has written in some form since her teens but then life for in the way. She returned to writing later in life with poetry before moving on to flash fiction and short stories. Her work has appeared in various publications, including Popshot, Banshee Lit, The People's Friend, Aayo and Underbelly. Her poetry and stories have also appeared in several anthologies. Once she had a 'war poem' sitting alongside the Artists Rifles exhibition in Basingstoke.

Heather is married with two grown-up sons and lives in London. She is a member of a vibrant local writers' group and particularly enjoys writing humour, but also delves into darker subjects. Sometimes she can be found at open mic sessions.

When not writing she reads avidly, walks and loves taking photos. She is addicted to music!

Tinsel Street was written over five years and is set in a small fictional town outside Peterborough. To get a feel for Peterborough and surrounding areas, Heather spent a few days there taking photos of locations used in the novel, and in some cases, changing the location when she realised that what was on paper didn't fit. Even Google has its limitations and there is nothing better than seeing the place you are writing about first hand.

Essentially, this is a Christmas feel-good story with each character having their own stories and problems. Humour punctuates throughout and Tinsel Street was a pleasure to write.
