Professor Dirk Pickuth is the former long-standing Head of the Department of Radiology and Medical Director at CaritasKlinikum Saarbrücken, Germany. He was the founding Director of the Digital Innovation and Strategy Hub (DISH), where he was responsible for driving digital transformation across radiological, clinical, operational and corporate environments. He also established the International Department of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging (id:ai:mi).
Professor Pickuth is involved in numerous international projects in the field of artificial intelligence and is active in both research and teaching.
He studied medicine in Kiel, London and Edinburgh, undertook a clinical research fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, and completed his specialist training in Heidelberg. He is the author of several textbooks, including ‘Clinical Radiology Facts’, ‘Pocket Guide to Radiology’, ‘Essentials of Ultrasonography’, ‘Healthcare Executives – The Essentials for Excellence in Leadership and Management’, and ‘How Artificial Intelligence Will Change Healthcare Forever – For Better’.
Professor Pickuth is the European Lead for the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management. He has been awarded numerous visiting and honorary professorships at distinguished European universities. His work has also been independently recognised through the conferment of honorary doctorates, reflecting the significance and lasting impact of his achievements.
