Claire Jenkins

Claire Jenkins is a well-rounded academic and researcher with a strong background in education, gender identity studies, and pastoral care. She focuses on transgender issues, especially in family, school, and religious settings. Claire has a rich academic background and is actively involved in community and advisory roles. She has a PhD from Sheffield University on transsexual transition in family settings. She also holds multiple degrees in physics, mathematics, education, psychotherapy, and globalization studies from various UK universities. She's currently a Senior Fellow at the Margaret Beaufort Institute, University of Cambridge. Claire has over 20 years of teaching and leadership experience in secondary education, and has held roles like deputy head teacher and head of science faculty.  She has contributed to many research projects on gender identity, LGBT+ issues, and has pastoral care practice. Her publications cover transgender experiences in schools, critiques of Vatican documents, and the intersection of faith and transgender identity. She has written academic articles, book chapters, and presented at conferences and in the media. Claire has been actively involved in voluntary roles, advising Catholic bishops on transgender issues, coordinating LGBT+ pastoral care, mentoring, and serving on boards of trustees. She also delivers training on gender identity to various organizations and presents her research findings at universities and conferences.
