Chrissy Payne was born and raised in England's smallest county, Rutland. Comprising mellow stone villages and just two small market towns, this rural landscape has been inspirational in her writing, both fact and fiction.
She has written features for both The Countryman and Evergreen national magazines, has had an early years reminiscence broadcast by BBC Radio 4, and a 10 part podcast series 'Memoirs Of A Little 'Un' produced by New Perspectives Theatre and funded by Arts Council England. The latter charts the author's childhood growing up in one of the small market towns during the 1960's, as the youngest of seven daughters. This series is available on all major podcast platforms and has a five star rating on Apple.
Graham's Yard is the first collection of short stories based in the fictional village of Sapthorpe. It is an evocative blend of community spirit, rich in humour and county folklore with a sprinkling of the supernatural.
