Important Notice: "Matador Publishers" Impersonation Alert
Written by:
Alex Thompson
It has come to our attention that a company operating under the name "Matador Publishers" has been falsely claiming affiliation with Troubador Publishing (and more specifically our now-retired Matador Publishing imprint, a UK-registered company owned by the Troubador Publishing group) to target self-publishing authors, particularly in US and overseas markets. Over the past several weeks, we’ve encountered multiple instances where this entity has offered publishing contracts while purporting to be a subsidiary of Troubador Publishing.
We've become aware that they are providing authors with a letter claiming to be affiliated with us and that an author signing up with them can benefit from our distribution networks by signing a contract with them. This is categorically false.
Although this company shares a similar name to our former imprint, I want to make clear that they have no affiliation with us. The fact that they are actively misleading authors by falsely claiming to represent us is a serious issue and one that we have raised directly with the company. We have also alerted our industry partners at the Alliance of Independent Authors among others.
If you are approached by this company or hear any claims linking us to them, please be advised that we have no affiliation with them whatsoever. Any authors with concerns or questions should reach out to us directly at [email protected] or by calling 0116 2792299 for further clarification.
Thank you for your continued support and vigilance.
Yours sincerely,
Alex Thompson
