Young children
Grandpa’s School Holidays explores the relationship between a young boy, Sam and his Grandpa while he is convalescing, unable to go to school.
Grandpa tells the boy a series of adventures that he, his brother and cousin had in the 1950’s on their Grandfather’s farm. The children go for picnics in the woods and disappear underground into a world of fantasy where they become very small amidst giant flowers and plants.
The stories are both funny and serious and sometimes with danger. Sam thinks his Grandpa has made them up but there are certain things about the house that just make him think, maybe they were true?
