Happy Birthday Troubador!

Troubador reached a milestone in its history this summer, having reached its 20th anniversary. The company was founded in August 1996 by Managing Director Jeremy Thompson, and has seen many changes over the years, including the founding of the Matador self-publishing imprint in 1999.

To celebrate, we've had all sorts of activities on social media, looking back at what former staff members are now up to, and seeing what some of our staff looked like 20 years ago (frightening!). The main celebration was a dinner held on 23rd September at Kilworth House Hotel. The directors welcomed staff past and present, suppliers, key partners and a smattering of local authors to help us celebrate.

Speaking at the dinner, Jeremy said "There was never a 'master plan' in founding the company all those years ago, I just wanted to publish good quality books and be proud of what we published. Over the years the company's focus has changed and, like many smaller publishers, we've been able to adapt quickly, but still with the same ethos of quality. We've published over 7000 books in the last 20 years, and it's a real privilege to have been trusted by so many authors with their work.”
